Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through counseling and treatment, I can help you recover motivation and perspective that you once had in your life.
I use a CBT-based approach to analyze how one's thoughts, behaviors, physiology, and emotions influence one's external life experiences (and vice versa) to then identify how to shift your emotional center. Depression and anxiety are often co-occurring, and may reflect different aspects of a similar problem area. We will go beyond "diagnosing" the feeling and experience and delve into the underlying reasons certain emotional challenges are arising within you.
Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are just a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events. I can help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing. I have been trained in how to process trauma-based beliefs that influence one's behavior in order to adapt more helpful ways to cope and to feel more empowered. Many people remain stuck in their recovery from trauma due to a tendency to avoid painful memories and experiences related to the trauma itself. I will assist you in beginning to overcome your avoidance to to experience post-traumatic growth rather than remaining stuck.
If you are alive and human, you will experience stress. This is a normal part of the human experience. When the bumps in the road start to feel insurmountable, likely due to a major life stressor (i.e., divorce, moving to a new place, coming out about our sexual orientation, etc.), receiving supportive counseling can be a major benefit to how you navigate life's challenges. I have worked with individuals working through distressing life changes to work through adjusting their lives with as much ease as possible.
